SEASON 2014/15

What’s Happening

The Club’s season began on Wednesday 3rd September at All Saints’ Community Hall. New members are always very welcome, please come along and join us if you have an interest in photography and would like to share it with like-minded people.

The 2014/15 Programme of Events is as follows:

2014

3rd September – Social Get-together (EGM now rescheduled for 17th September)

10th September   – Speaker – Guy Badham giving a talk entitled ‘Walking Through Derbyshire with a Camera (organic approach to photography, working with what nature has to offer).

17th September – Members’ Night – Whiz member Alan will take us through some of his technical ideas including member requests. EGM.

24th September – Competition – Theme Landscape (crop and resize ONLY – no extra effects or manipulation in or out of camera.) Judge Frank Hutchinson.

1st October – Workshop Night – TBC

8th October – Speaker – Christine Gregory – landscape painter, writer, photographer and naturalist, who will be giving a talk called ‘A River in Time’, the story of the River Bradford and Bradford Dale. Click here to find out more.

15th October – Competition – Theme Water. Judge Bob Rowe.

22nd October – Members’ Night – continuing project/exhibition etc. ideas including the Ashbourne & District Record.

29th October – Open Competition – First Trophy – Judge Keith Brown.

5th November – Speaker – Tony Winfield giving a talk entitled ‘Creative Photography (including landscapes).

12th November – Members’ Night – Our very own Maxine presents images of her recent trip to New Zealand.

19th November – Members’ Night – Another member Paul presenting images of his recent trips to Texas and Berlin.

26th November – Competition – Long Exposure. Judge Tony Winfield.

3rd December – Speaker – Ashley Franklin giving a talk entitled ‘The Wider World of Photography (Part 1). The story of Portrait, Fashion, Industrial, War and Social Photography.

10th December – Members’ Night – Images Revisited. Members to resubmit past competition entries modified, taking into account any judges previous comments and discussion.

17th December – Christmas Party – Food, Quizzes and Fun!

2015

7th January – Members’ Night – In-house Competition. Theme – Projected Images to depict popular music…. ‘Name That Tune’.

14th January – Speaker – Derek Doar, giving a talk about the use of Photoshop – details to be decided by members.

21st January – Members’ Workshop – TBC

28th January – Competition – Theme Christmas/Winter Images – Judge Peter Cheetham.

4th February – Members’ Night – Well travelled member Frank will present “Images of Catalonia’.

11th February – Speaker – Jim Hartje, giving a talk entitled ‘ My Photography’ (Fine Art or Creative Expression?)

18th February – Annual Dinner – TBC

25th February – Open Competion – Mono. Judge Rob Palmer

4th March – Speaker – Sheila Hine, giving a talk based around her book entitled ‘Field Barns of the Peak District’.

11th March – Open Competition – Second Trophy – Judge Rob Falconer

18th March – Members’ Workshop – TBC

25th March – Competition – Theme Farm Buildings – Judge David Gibbins 

1st April – Speaker – Rod Kirkpatrick… local professional photographer gives us an update on his recent ‘ad’ventures.

8th April – Competition – Theme Flower Power. Judge Ashley Franklin

15th April – Members’ Night – Images Revisited.. (part 2)

22nd April – Three Way Battle with Matlock and Bakewell Camera Clubs. Hosted by Matlock. Judge Bob Rowe.

29th April – Member’s Night

6th May – Image of the Year Competition.

13th May – Annual General Meeting.
